Stain Removal Chart

Always check the fabric care label for instructions on stain removal.Cottons will react differently than polyester, denim, etc. 
This chart only lists the most common stains. 

1st Step with any fabric:  Rinse as soon as possible (turn fabric inside-out) in COLD water. 
Apply stain remover.  Oxi-clean, or a spray remover. 
 If you do not have any, 2 parts Baking Soda with 1 part water–make a paste– and leave for 30 min or longer.
Always try any stain remover on a small section of the fabric before applying to larger area, to see how it will react.
Always blot stain with rag or paper towel. Rubbing can push the stain into the fabric
Do not put item in dryer until you are sure the stain is completely out

USE A COLD WATER WASH CYCLE WHEN STAINED WITH:
Baby food/ Formula 
Chocolate 
Wine/Beer
Blood/Vomit
Coffee/Tea

USE WARM/HOT WASH CYCLE WHEN STAINED WITH:
Dirt/Mud  — let it dry and scrap off as much as possible 
Dyes/Markers Ballpoint Ink — can sometimes be removed by applying toothpaste–let it set for 10-15 min before washing
Grass 
Sweat 
Grease/automotive or cooking oils– some oils can be removed with a de-greaser.
409 Cleaner, Simple Green, or Dawn Dish Detergent.
